Themed itineraries Architecture & Wineries

The Barolo Chappel by Sol LeWitt

These tours combine our classic tours (see itineraries) with visits, meals and lots of tasting at Contemporary Wineries around Italy and Europe.

Guests are guided by an expert in the field around all areas of the wineries including production, storage and retail areas facilities. Where possible groups will sleep over at the winery, like at that of Marques de Riscal in Spain’s wine capital Elciego. The Winery (Gehry and Partners, 2006) also has a hotel and spa and can be combined with a tour of Bilbao and San Sebastian.

Petra Winery, Mario Botta

Wine tours are highly requested in Italy, the most common including: the Petra Winery on the hills of San Lorenzo (in Suvereto in the Maremma area) along the Etruscan coast considered the ‘Cathedral of Wine’ (Mario Botta, 2004), the low slung Rocca di Frassinello in Tuscany-joint venture between Italian and French winemakers and designed by Renzo Piano (2007), that of the Nardini Distillery in Bassano del Grappa with its’ two seemingly suspended transparent bubbles (Massimiliano Fuksas, 2004).
Tours are planned around requests and profile of each group. Itineraries not currently available can be arranged at no extra charge if requested well in advance.
