Arrive at O'Hare airport. Transfer to Hotel Allegro and check in. Meet with local guide and departure for a two hour tour of the city by private coach. Dinner on own and overnight stay.

Walking tour through the historic and modern skyscrapers of the city such as : Chicago Architecture Foundation, Chicago Board of Trade, Auditorium (masterpiece by Louis Sullivan), The Rookery... The various styles help understand the impact of the historic, political and social changes on the construction of Chicago as well as on the development of italian cities. The difference between the evolution of the american modern architecture and that of the european architecture will be illustrated through the analysis of the following styles: Chicago School, art-deco, international and postmodern styles. Transfer to the Museum of Contemporanean Art (MCA) and visit to the collection of sculptures, paintings, photos and videos from 1945 until today. Lunch at museum cafè. Visit on own to the current exhibition. Return to hotel. Dinner on own and overnight stay.

Breakfast at hotel and departure for Oak Park. Arrive at the studio and house of Frank Lloyd Wright, visit to the inside and in-depth analysis of the structures, materials, furnitures used as well the lights and colours which have made him one of the most famous architects wordwide. Walk through the historic area of Oak Park and visit to various private houses in order to follow Wright's creative evolution and style development.  Visit on own to the Church Unity Temple. Lunch on own. Return to hotel. Dinner on own and overnight stay.

Breakfast at hotel. Departure for the harbour for an architecture cruise arranged by the Chicago Architecture Foundation: overall glance at the city, its skyscrapers and famous buildings. Lunch on own in one of the restaurants looking over Lake Michigan. In the afternoon, visit on own to the area around the harbour: SHEDD Aquarium (the largest worlwide), Museum of Science and Industry, also home to an Omnimax Theater, shopping centres and tourist areas. Return to hotel, dinner on own and overnight stay.

Breakfast at hotel. Visit to the Campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology, also known as Mies Campus, where the largest collection of Mies van der Rohe's buildings can be admired. Walking tour through the campus following the three periods which have marked its evolution: before 1938, from 1938 to 1958 when Mies was the chancellor of the University, and the period after him. The tour ends with a visit to the recent buildings such as the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (Rem Koolhaas OMA Office of Metropolitan Architecture) and the students residence halls (Helmut Jahn). Lunch on own and free time. Return to hotel. Dinner on own and overnight stay.
